PORCELAIN VENEERS
Transform your smile with porcelain veneers
Do you have things about your smile that you have always wanted to change? A chip, a gap, a stain, an oddly shaped tooth? Have you tried other treatments without success? Dental Veneers are a way to transform your smile into the one you have always envisioned. We would love to discuss with you how this can be achieved.
What are Dental Veneers?
Porcelain veneers are ultra thin shells of dental ceramic that we bond directly on to the front surface of your teeth. When bonded to the teeth, they are virtually undetectable and highly resistant to staining. Porcelain veneers are our ideal choice if you are looking to match the strength, durability and appearance of natural, healthy tooth enamel.

Porcelain Veneers can help correct:
- Damaged teeth due to chips, cracks, or grinding
- Discolouration/Stains that whitening can not correct
- Gaps between teeth
- Misaligned or oddly shaped teeth

- Consultation with Dr. Flory
We want you to feel in control of your treatment and understand why you are considering veneers. It is important that we have the time to sit down and explain what to expect and what can be achieved. - Tooth Preparation
After consultation, we prepare your tooth for the veneer by removing a thin layer of your tooth enamel to ensure a proper fit and a strong bond. - Selecting a Shade
We select the correct shade of porcelain to match your existing teeth to ensure a completely natural look. - Impressions
We take impressions of your teeth in order to create a custom-made veneer that fits perfectly. - Temporary Veneer
We apply temporary veneers while you wait for your porcelain veneers to be designed. The temporary veneer is shaped and fitted to your tooth. - Application
Once your permanent veneers are designed, we prepare your teeth by coating them with a mild solution. This is called etching and roughens the tooth to help the adhesion of your veneer. Your veneer is then placed on the front of your existing tooth, using a bonding agent. The veneer is then hardened using a blue light to complete the application. Lastly, your tooth is then cleaned, flossed and polished.
Caring for your Dental Veneers
Porcelain veneers are considered a permanent restorative dental treatment. However, this requires excellent oral health care to maintain them and ensure their longevity. Here are some recommendations:
- Brush and floss regularly.
Brush your teeth with an electric or manual, soft bristled toothbrush twice a day, for two minutes. Floss twice daily and gently. - Prevent stains
No one wants to stain their bright, new veneers. We recommend rinsing your mouth with water or brushing after consuming stain-causing food or drink. - Wear a Night Guard
If you grind or clench your teeth, ensure you have a night guard to wear! While porcelain is a strong and durable material, it is not as strong as your regular tooth enamel so damage would be greater to your veneers. - Avoid Smoking
We don’t recommend smoking at any time due to the damage it can cause to your health, but in addition to that, smoking can cause yellow staining of your veneers. - Don’t use your teeth for things they aren’t intended for
Instead of biting that package open, use scissors! Don’t gnaw on your nails or a pen or pencil. Protect your veneers and keep them free from bacteria! - Visit us regularly
Regular dental cleanings and exams will help ensure your veneers keep for as long as possible. Book in twice a year by calling us at 403-981-3685.
