DENTAL SEALANTS

A simple treatment to help prevent cavities from forming

Sometimes as well as you brush and floss, bacteria can still get into the deep grooves in your teeth. Cavities can form as the bacteria settles into these grooves where brushing and flossing can’t reach.

Dental sealants prevent 80% of cavities in the back teeth where cavities commonly occur.

What is a dental sealant and how is it applied?

Highly effective in preventing cavities on the biting surfaces of your chewing teeth, applying a dental sealant is a simple procedure in which a tooth-colored acrylic "coating" is painted onto the surface of your teeth. This effectively "seals'' the deep grooves, acting as a barrier and protecting enamel from plaque and cavity-causing acids.

Easy to apply, it only takes a few minutes to seal your teeth. Dental sealants
hold up well under the force of normal chewing and can last several years before a reapplication is needed.

Sealants are beneficial for all, but are particularly helpful for children as their permanent teeth surface.
